PREVENTION TRAINING
Stewards of Children®, developed by Darkness to Light, is a two-and-a-half-hour training program that equips adults with the knowledge and tools to prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse. The training includes a video component featuring personal stories from survivors, sharing their experiences of trauma and healing.
This motivational and compelling program encourages adults to take personal responsibility for protecting children while acknowledging the fears and concerns many people have when addressing this difficult issue. Participants learn practical prevention strategies through the Five Steps to Protecting Children™.
The training is offered free of charge through the Children’s Advocacy & Protection Center of Catawba County, which has trained more than 8,000 adults, helping build a safer community for children throughout Catawba County.

Did you know...?
Research shows that at least 1 in 10 children will experience sexual abuse before they turn 18, and only 10% of those children ever tell someone. An adult speaking up can be the first step in protecting a child and potentially saving a life.
